In this chapter a few special features of the capital city of Gujarat – Gandhinagar – have been presented. Gandhinagar is a well-planned city. It is full of lush green vegetation and is famous as the world’s greenest place.
Here the pious confluence of science and spirituality can be witnessed at Akshardhām. Gandhinagar is not only the political centre of Gujarat; it is also the cultural, educational centre along with being the centre of pride.

આપણા રાષ્ટ્રપિતા શ્રીમાન મહાત્મા ગાંધી મહોદયની સ્મૃતિરૂપે આ મંદિરનું નિર્માણ થયું હતું. તે “મહાત્મામંદિર’ નામે પ્રસિદ્ધ છે. મહાત્મા ગાંધી મહોદયે ભારતની સ્વતંત્રતા માટે ખૂબ પ્રયાસ કર્યો હતો. આ બધાં કાર્યો ચિત્રરૂપે અહીં પ્રદર્શન માટે રજૂ કરવામાં આવ્યાં છે.
અનુવાદ: આ ‘અક્ષરધામ’ નામે (એક) વિશાળ મંદિર છે. (આ) મંદિરમાં પ્રદર્શન વિભાગ ખૂબ સુંદર છે. પ્રદર્શન વિભાગમાં લોકો એક ચલચિત્ર પણ જુએ છે. (લોકોને એક ચલચિત્ર પણ બતાવવામાં આવે છે.) અધ્યાત્મ અને વિજ્ઞાનનો સંગમ અહીં દેખાય છે. અહીં ચિત્તને આકર્ષનારું એક વિશાળ ઉદ્યાન પણ છે. દરરોજ ઘણા બધા પ્રવાસીઓ આ મંદિરના દર્શન માટે આવે છે.
ગાંધીનગરની નજીકમાં જ વિશાળ ઇન્દ્રોડા પક્ષી-ઉદ્યાન છે. આ સ્થાનમાં પક્ષીઓ અને પ્રાણીઓ પોતાના પર્યાવરણમાં જ વસે છે. ડાયનોસોર’ નામનાં પ્રાચીન વિશાળકાય પ્રાણીઓનો એક ખાસ વિભાગ છે. આ વિભાગ બાળકો માટે ખૂબ આકર્ષક અને મનોરંજક છે. અહીં એક સાપઘર પણ છે. જુદી જુદી જાતિના સાપોને આપણે અહીં જોઈ શકીએ છીએ.
ગાંધીનગરથી નજીકમાં જ ‘વિદ્યાભવન’ નામની વિશાળ ઇમારત છે. તે જ ઇમારત (ભવન) જી.સી.ઈ.આર.ટી. તરીકે જાણીતી છે. વિદ્યાભવનમાં જી.સી.ઈ.આર.ટી. નામે પરિષદની કચેરી છે. આ પરિષદ આપણાં પ્રાથમિક શિક્ષણક્ષેત્રે પરિવર્તન માટે નિરંતર કાર્યરત હોય છે.
ગાંધીનગરમાં વિશાળ અને સ્વચ્છ માગે છે. આ નગરમાં અનેક રળિયામણાં ઉદ્યાનો છે. નગરમાં ઘણાં બધાં વૃક્ષો છે તે કારણે આ નગર વિશ્વના ‘હરિયાળા નગર’ રૂપે પણ જાણીતું છે.
