→ The astronauts who went to the moon, have taken photographs of the earth from space, which prove that the earth is round.
→ The horizontal imaginary lines drawn on the globe are called Latitudes and the vertical imaginary lines are called Longitudes.
→ The sun gives us (to earth) light and heat.
→ According to the temperature and the heat of the sun, the earth is divided into various zones, which are called ‘Climatic Zones’. There are three zones:
- Torrid
- Temperate and
- Frigid.
→ The large land masses on the surface of the earth are called ‘Continents’, and the areas covered by water are known as ‘Oceans’.
→ There are seven continents and four oceans on the earth.
→ Names of the seven continents:
- Asia
- Europe
- Africa
- North America
- South America
- Australia and
- Antarctica.
→ The Antarctica continent extends up to South Pole.
→ Names of the four oceans:
- Pacific Ocean
- Atlantic Ocean
- Indian Ocean
- Arctic Ocean.
