Give reasons for the following:
(a) A square can be thought of as a special rectangle.
(b) A rectangle can be thought of as a special parallelogram.
(c) A square can be thought of as a special rhombus.
(d) Squares, rectangles, parallelograms are all quadrilaterals.
(e) Square is also parallelogram.
Solution:
(a) A square can be considered as a rectangle having all of its sides equal.
(b) A rectangle can be considered as a parallelogram having each of its angles equal to 90Ā°.
(c) A square can be considered as a rhombus having each angle equal to right angle.
(d) Quadrilateral is a polygon having four sides. Squares, rectangles and parallelograms are four-sided polygons.
(e) The opposite sides of a square are parallel, therefore a square is also a parallelogram.

Question 3.
A figure is said to be regular if its sides are equal in length and the angles are equal in measure. Can you identify the regular quadrilateral?
Solution:
Square is the only quadrilateral having all its sides equal in length and all its angles equal in measure.
