Activity 3.
For the teacher: Tell the story of āThe Cap-seller and the Monkeysā to the students. Ask them to listen to it carefully.
(A) Listen to the story.
There was a cap-seller. He moved around the whole day and sold colourful caps.
One day, the cap-seller was tired and thirsty. He sat down under a tree to rest. He kept his bag of caps next to him. Soon he fell asleep.
There were some monkeys living on that tree. The monkeys say the caps in the bag. They climbed down the tree and took the caps. They wore the caps and sat on the tree. After some time the cap-seller woke up. He saw his bag. It was empty. He looked up. He saw the monkeys sitting on the tree with the caps on their heads.
The cap-seller had an idea! He removed his cap and threw it on the ground. The monkeys saw this. The monkeys also removed their caps and threw them on the ground. The cap-seller collected all the caps and put them in his bag. He went home happily.
(B) Read the story. Use the words in place of pictures and write the story.

Once I was happily flying in the sky. I was looking at the colourful kites. Suddenly, my wing was cut by the string of a kite. I was wounded. I could not fly. I fell down on the ground. A small girl saw me. She took me home to her mother.
Her mother gave me some water. She comforted me. She treated my wounds. The little girl looked after me till I was alright again. Soon I was strong enough to fly. The little girl set me free. I flew into the sky and came back here.
Give three advices to the bird.

Shibi was a generous king. There was a special bird. Once Lord Indra decided to test his generosity. One day, a hunter saw it. He had a plan with the help of Yama. It dropped pieces of gold from its mouth while singing. One morning, King Shibi took his seat in the court. He got a lot of pieces of gold and became very rich. He decided to give the bird to the king as a gift. Just then a dove, Indra, fell near Shibiās feet. It could not fly.
Then a hawk, Yama, came in chasing the dove. The king was very happy with the gift. The dove requested the king to save him. The hawk demanded for the dove. The king told the Prime Minister about the bird. The king said to the hawk, āDonāt kill the dove. I will give you meat as much as you want.ā The Prime Minister did not v believe this and said to the king, āThe people the kingdom will laugh at you.ā
But the hawk said, āI donāt eat anything killed by others. If you give me your flesh equal to the weight of the doveās body, I will take it.ā So the king set the bird free. At this point, ā Indra and Yama appeared before Shibi. The bird sat on the top of the palace.
It thought, I āThere are four fools in the kingdom. They are the hunter, the Prime Minister, the king and myself.ā The king said to his men, āCut my body into pieces and put them on the balance.ā They praised and blessed Shibi.
